Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are the sales located indoors?
A: Yes. Sales are located in climate-controlled buildings.

Q: Is there an admission fee for shoppers?
A: There is no admission fee.

Q: How often do you have a KidSmart Sale?
A: We intend to have a KidSmart Sale twice a year.

Q: How can I shop early?
A: Sellers and Volunteers can shop at the Pre-Sale that takes place the evening before the Sale opens to the general public.  Provided that space is available, we will open volunteer shifts for non-selling Volunteers 2 weeks prior to the Pre-Sale.

Q: Can I bring a guest to the Pre-Sale?
A: As a Seller or Volunteer, you will receive 2 passes to the Pre-Sale.  The first Pre-Sale pass is for you and the second Pre-Sale pass is for any guest of your choosing.

Q: What form of payment does KidSmart accept?
A: Visa, MasterCard, debit cards, and cash are accepted at all sales.

Q: What brands and sizes can I find?
A: Chances are you can find a little bit of everything at our Sales event!

Q: How do I carry my items while I am shopping?
A: We suggest that you bring a laundry basket to carry the items you would like to purchase.  All bags will need to be checked at the door.  There will also be a limited number of shopping bags or laundry baskets provided by KidSmart at the Sale.

Q: Are children allowed at the Sale?

A: Of course children are allowed at the Sale.  However, please keep in mind that the Sale is busy and your children need to stay by you at all times.  We also don’t want children playing with toys that people are trying to sell.  If you are a Volunteer, you are not allowed to bring your children during your volunteer shift.

Q: Are there any last minute tips I should know?
A: Yes!  Bring a “shopping list” of the items you hope to find.  Otherwise, you might walk in to the Sale, see the large amount and wide variety of items available, become overwhelmed, and forget about the original items you were looking for.  It helps to have that list handy for reference.  In addition, arrive at the Sale as early as you can!  The best deals are the ones that go first, so shop early and shop often!  Most Sales feature a 50% OFF day at the end of the event!  Don’t miss those extra, last minute savings on the items still available for sale on the last day!

Q: Can I bring my wagon or stroller to the Sale?
A: Yes.  As you enter, there will be someone at the door tagging your wagon or stroller so it will not be confused with any wagons or strollers for sale.  However, please bring a laundry basket to place your items in while shopping.

Q: Can I camp out to make sure I have a good place in line on the first public Sale day?
A: Yes, you can if your event venue security guard allows it.  However, a better option very well might be to avoid using the sleeping bag and tent and instead, consider selling your own items as a Consignor…or better yet, helping out as a Volunteer!  Either way (Consignor or Volunteer), you would get to shop early at the special, private Pre-Sale event.  Volunteers shop the earliest of all.  The more you volunteer, the earlier you shop.

Q: Are all sales really final?
A: Yes.  We are a seasonal sales event.  We hold our events and then we send out checks to Consignors whose items have been purchased.  We ask that you please inspect and test all goods before you pay for them and leave the building.  If you need help testing an item, please ask and we will be happy to assist you.  If you have purchased an item and decide it doesn't suit your tastes, you are more than welcome to sell your functioning, gently-used items with us at the next Sales event!

Q: Can I try on items?
A: No, there will not be a place to try on items.

Q: How old do you have to be to volunteer at the sale?
A: You must be 18 or older to volunteer for the sale.  However, we will allow mature 16 or 17 year old to volunteer if we okay it first through email.

Q: Can my husband work my volunteer shift instead of me?
A: Absolutely!
